Our steam excursions will operate 1 hour / 7 mile round trips originating from our station in downtown Byesville.  Along the way, our car attendants (dressed as old-time coal miners) will narrate and talk about what it was like to work underground in the deep mines that once existed along the route.  Our coal miner-car attendants explain how the miners worked to mine the coal, and what the working conditions were like underground.  They will show actual coal mining tools and relics from the early 1900's, such as picks, shovels, augers, tamping bars, copper needles, miner's check tags and carbide lamps. Our coal miner-car attendants will also talk about the coal miner's life at home as well as their traditions and customs.

Motive power for the Steam weekend will be Ohio Central 4-6-2 Pacific No.1293, built in 1948, and rebuilt by the Ohio Central Steam Department in 1997.

On Saturday an antique engine show will be held at the station, giving spectators a chance to view stationary 2-cycle "hit and miss" engines from years past.

Tickets are $15 per person regardless of age and will be sold at the Byesville Depot on a first come-first serve basis.  Caboose rides will also be available for $20 each (four seats per excursion available, also first come-first serve).
